‘It Is My Responsibility…’: Chirag Paswan Explains Criticism of Nitish Kumar, Predicts Historic NDA Victory

Patna – Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has stirred the political pot once again with pointed remarks about Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, despite being an ally within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). In a bold statement that has triggered conversations across the political spectrum, Paswan clarified his stance, calling his recent criticisms a “responsibility towards the people of Bihar”, and projected a record-breaking victory for the NDA in the upcoming 2025 Bihar assembly elections.

“If I don’t raise issues affecting the people, who will? It is my responsibility as a public representative. My criticism is not personal—it is performance-based,” Paswan said at a press conference in Patna.

🔥 Criticism of Nitish Kumar: Targeting Governance, Not Alliance

Paswan’s comments come at a time when the BJP-led NDA is trying to project unity, especially after the successful 2024 Lok Sabha elections. But the young MP from Jamui, who has consistently positioned himself as a challenger to Nitish’s leadership, reiterated that constructive criticism is healthy within alliances.

He pointed out persistent issues such as:

  • Poor infrastructure in rural Bihar

  • Unemployment among youth

  • Law and order concerns

  • Deteriorating healthcare and education systems

“This alliance should not be about silence. I speak up because Bihar deserves better,” Paswan stated.

Despite the critiques, he emphasized that he respects Nitish Kumar’s experience but disagrees with his administrative approach. He added that his focus remains on development-oriented politics, echoing the vision of his late father, Ram Vilas Paswan.

💬 “My Goal is to Empower Bihar”

Chirag Paswan made it clear that his priority is the development of Bihar, not petty politics. He said the state’s potential has long been held back by ineffective leadership and inconsistent governance.

“Bihar has talent, resources, and energy—but it needs fresh thinking and long-term planning,” he asserted.

He called for youth empowerment, industrial investment, and accountable governance as key pillars for Bihar’s transformation. “I believe in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. For that to happen, Bihar cannot be left behind,” he added.

🔮 NDA’s Historic Win in 2025? Chirag Sounds Confident

Looking ahead to the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, Paswan predicted a “historic mandate” for the NDA, citing the positive public sentiment following the 2024 Lok Sabha results where the NDA made significant gains in the state.

“We are heading for a massive win. People want stability, progress, and performance—and that’s what the NDA stands for,” he said.

Paswan also hinted that his party would contest more seats in the next assembly elections, but maintained that seat-sharing will be a collective decision within the alliance.

🤝 Alliance Dynamics: Walking the Tightrope

While BJP leaders have largely avoided commenting on Paswan’s recent jabs at Nitish Kumar, insiders suggest that the central leadership is watching closely. The BJP sees Chirag Paswan as a key youth face and Dalit leader who can galvanize young voters.

His strategic position allows him to speak independently while remaining within the NDA framework, giving him leverage both within Bihar and nationally.

“I have never denied my alliance with the NDA. But alliance does not mean silence,” Paswan clarified.

📣 Public and Political Reactions

Paswan’s statements have drawn mixed reactions:

  • Opposition parties accused him of playing a “double game” by criticizing Nitish while being in alliance with him.

  • BJP insiders say his statements are reflective of public frustration in parts of Bihar.

  • JDU leaders have remained tight-lipped but are reportedly unhappy with the tone of Paswan’s remarks.

Political analyst Alok Mehta observed,

“Chirag is carving out space as an alternative within the NDA. It’s risky, but it’s a smart long-term play.”
